EVERYONE PLAYS AT DAYS

LEVELING

THE PLAYING FIELD

Travel baseball is a multi-billion dollar industry that has grown at an incredible rate over the last 10 years. Along with the tremendous growth, many communities and families are priced out of participating in travel baseball because of the associated costs including uniforms, coaching fees, hotel expenses and more.

This makes it very difficult for many families to afford a travel team experience for their aspiring young ball player.

Days Inn decided to do something about it.

They “leveled the playing field,” in travel sports by creating and sponsoring the Golden Rays, a travel baseball team made up of twelve 12-year-olds for the 2019 season. Each player and their family had all costs including hotel, travel, uniforms and all fees paid for by Days Inn.

The season culminated at the USSSA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona.  All kids, families and coaches traveled by air for this national championship taking place over a 4-day period.

For many this was their first trip out of state or on a plane. The teams came from across the country and the pressure was palpable. Out of nearly 30 teams, the Golden Rays underdogs fought their way to the playoffs where the final eight teams battled it out on the last day. In the end the kids performed beyond their expectations and came in 5th place.
